And Shearer is about 52; I think that officials retire at 45 now, don’t they? But even then, if in an emergency age was overlooked due to an injury, they could only do it if they were fully qualified referees anyway, and Jimmy Hill was. If Alan Hanson and Shearer aren’t, then it’s a non sequitur as far as comparisons go, and thus, a silly question.
